Question:
That’s really weird. I bought from this seller back several months ago, and while their feedback was less than stellar then, it was nothing like this. I got my book promptly, in good condition. I wonder what’s going on, this isn’t exactly a newbie on half.com, and he hasn’t always had feedback like this.
It is odd. Very odd. You would think he would have been NARU

Wouldn’t Ebay kick you out with a record like this? This person got 208 negatives in the LAST 7 DAYS!!! Was looking to buy a book at half.com, and saw this lovely record….glad I looked!

At least the buyers don’t have to worry about retaliatory negatives, this seller never leaves any feedback for anyone. Richard Ward
Sounds like he’s pre-ordering close-outs. I also don’t like the return policy expressed on his website: http://www.a1techbooks.com/cgi-bin/a1eFront?WVSESSION_ID=875892747&ac… elp Restocking fee charged *even* if they sent the wrong book? (In that case, you can get your shipping fees back, though.) Kris

Note all the feedback he’s left……. That also says a lot about what to expect.

How the hell is this asswipe still allowed to trade? Anyhow, I had a quick look at the feedback and I did notice that many of the negs come from newbies.

Is there any way to search half.com to see if this seller is still selling? They don’t show any active eBay auctions, but they generally only sold on half.com, even back a few months ago when they were actually delivering merchandise.
I didn’t think there was, but if you search for him as a seller on eBay, you get a link to his half.com auctions. (500 books for sale, and a movie.) Is that something new, or did I just not know it was there? Bonita

The negatives would have scared me off.. Jason
I was looking for a book on half.com and he had a copy. I checked his feedback and it definitely scared me off. Fortunately another seller with better feedback also had the book. As I recall the other seller’s price was a bit higher but I felt much better about their feedback and bought from them instead. Cheryl
Response:
The thing is, their feedback didn’t look like this when most of these books were ordered. A lot of the complaints are from people who were told their order was canceled weeks after the half.com order was confirmed. While there are a suspiciously high number of negs from people who have subsequently been NARUed, most of the negs and neutrals come from people with perfectly normal feedback. The seller still had books listed on half.com last week. Cheryl

I bought from him several months ago, and while his feedback was less than stellar, it wasn’t the train wreck it looks like now. It’s amazing that someone who’d been selling a huge volume of books for a couple of years on half.com could totally melt down this way. I know it isn’t the first time something like this has happened, but usually you could attribute it to the death or disability of the seller, or to the seller getting in over their heads and not shipping merchandise that had been paid for. I don’t see how that could be the case here, where he’s shipping some books, and others he cancels the order and refunds the money a month after the order. Death or disability wouldn’t explain that, and he doesn’t appear to be keeping the money so financial problems wouldn’t explain it either. I don’t know what would explain it, which makes it all the more perplexing. For what it’s worth, I wonder how long he can stay in business? You don’t get automatically canned unless you get -4 feedback. He’s still getting more positives than negatives, so I don’t see him ever hitting that point. He doesn’t appear to be keeping the money, so I don’t see him getting canned for that. What does half.com do if someone repeatedly confirms an order and then cancels it, over and over again? Maybe ebay’s proposed % rating will help weed out such sellers or at least reduce their sales.

Anyone notice how many of those buyers who’ve recently negged this seller have been subsequently NARUed? A *lot*.

Bravo Sheelah! I have never seen a feedback as bad as that.
