Buy it Now question

Question:

I’ve looked through the Buy it Now section of the help pages, and can’t find one important piece of information.  How do you find out when one of your items ends with a Buy it Now purchase?  I know you could wait for the end of auction notice from eBay, but we all know how reliable those are.  I only have a few (under 20) auctions going over Thanksgiving, and I can just watch the specific auctions, but I was planning on posting a lot more auctions next week, and offering buy it now on most of them.  Any ideas? Response:

As soon as I hit send, it hit me that checking My eBay items I’m selling would give me the exact information I was asking for.  A bit embarrassing when the blatantly obvious eludes you. Richard Just look at your auctions under the Seller Search. As soon as it is bought it will come up with the * that shows the auction is over.   I’ve had two take the Buy it Now and that is the way I found them.   I alway review that list a couple of times a day anyway. John

I really like it, especially for auctions with a reserve, I just set the "Buy it now" to the same price as the reserve, although if ebay plans on charging any more than $.25-$.50 for it I think I will throw it out the window! — David Saad Muzo Mine Emerald Co. Kind of like me and Curtis’ spam blocker. ;-) Do you guys like the "buy it now" feature? I’m not going to list anything for another week or so, so I haven’t used it yet. But as a buyer, I have to admit that when I compared the "buy it now" price with the starting price on some items, it made the seller look kind of greedy. Maybe it’s the vast price difference of the three "buy it now" auctions I’ve looked at or just some weird reaction on my part, but it really turned me off. Do any other buyers look at it that way? Anyway, I’m off to eat turkey. I had my first auction close yesterday with Buy it Now.  The opening bid was $9.95 with no reserve, and the Buy it Now price was $19.95.  I set the Buy it Now price a couple of dollars below the closing price the last time this item sold, to give a little impetus for a quick sale.  I tried a variety of strategies on a few other auctions, from giving a small bargain under buy it now, to setting the buy it now price a few dollars above what I expected to get, to try and stimulate early bidding.  Don’t have enough empirical data yet to see what works best. I plan on offering it in one form or another on almost all my auctions starting Tuesday. Richard Ward – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I haven’t used it yet, but plan to try it when I put up some auctions Friday night. As I’ve been browsing Ebay, I have seen Buy It Now Prices equal to opening bid prices and up to triple or quadruple the opening bid price (looked like wishful thinking to me, rather than greed).  I am mostly browsing jewelry. It looks like a very interesting feature and may finally be the one way to rout snipers (no dis intended, as I use esnipe for almost all my bidding :-) ). In the past, it usually did not pay to shorten an auction unless the private email offer was ~very~ significantly above your expected ~closing~ price. Say 30 percent higher. Why or how would this change with Buy it Now? The other side of "greedy" is "establishing a value". — Many thanks, Don Lancaster Synergetics   3860 West First Street  Box 809  Thatcher, AZ 85552 Please visit my GURU’s LAIR web site at http://www.tinaja.com

What’s so hard? Do a search of sellers on eBay, using your own seller ID. You will get a list of your current auctions, with end times. Or just click on the view seller’s other auctions link from one of your auctions. I have my page bookmarked and check it for auction info. -*MORT*-

I haven’t used the buy it price on Ebay but have been using it on Yahoo for a long time. My buy it price is usually set at twice my starting price. Most people go ahead and pay the buy it price instead of waiting for the auction to end since I use 10 day auctions on Yahoo. It works for me.
