Question:
I think people make too big a deal about feedback and who leaves and when. You all get caught up in some competitive game mentality. The first 20-50 are important to break the ice but the main thing is to avoid negatives by being fair and honest. So what if a buyer or seller fails to leave feedback? After all, it’s not the end of the world? Don’t take it so personally! Be happy; have a nice day.
<rest snipped A seller leaving feedback to me is like saying "thank you" to a buyer who has responded to emails, promptly sent in payment, and posted feedback when he/she receives the package and feels the transaction has been satisfactory. I appreciate feedback, but never request it. Most of the buyers I’ve done business with have reciprocated – for those who don’t I just move on and forget it – it’s their loss. Those who are "too busy" to leave it or "don’t give a ****" are perhaps in the wrong profession/hobby. Good service, honesty, and politeness will always be rewarded by a satisfied customer. Just my two cents. PS – I work in a supermarket so customer service is part of my day. Best, Arlene Raynor

Hi: I’ve gotten very appreciative emails from buyers after a successful auction. I didn’t feel it was necessary or a big deal to send another letter to them asking for feedback even though I gave them feedback as soon as their check cleared. Just didn’t seem to be worth the hassle. Sorry. Sincerely; sandpiper117 – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I think people make too big a deal about feedback and who leaves and when. I have been debating whether to cc the letter I got from this seller to Safe Harbor. It in essences said, "thanks for your prompt payment and after you receive the item and leave feedback, I will to." I know we have discussed this before and I have read the thread, but doesn’t this sound worse than the member who got NARU for offering feedback for the penny item. I really feel like this is out and out blackmail. I don’t do that because I think feedback should be given if the person pays in a timely manner. I don’t know though, I am still learning as I go. In my mind that doesn’t qualify as blackmail. If you asked him, he would probably say that he does it because he has been annoyed in the past at the amount of buyers he leaves feedback for, who then can’t be bothered to respond in kind. So now he has taken the reverse tack of waiting until the buyer initiates the feedback process. You show me yours, and.. As a buyer, I no longer leave feedback unless feedback is left for me. Sellers who expect buyers to leave feedback first are goofy. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I have been debating whether to cc the letter I got from this seller to Safe Harbor. I wouldn’t forward it to safeharbor, because the sender hasn’t broken any of eBay’s rules. He has behaved in a very shitty manner, and has quite rude, but eBay doesn’t have rules against that. I’d send him an email once you get the product (provided it is acceptable), stating that you received the product, that it is fine, that you would have left him a positive feedback were it not for his attitude of holding your feedback hostage until he received a positive, but that after you recieved his letter you do not feel that he deserves positive feedback on the transaction, that you will never bid on one of his auctions again, and that you will make sure everyone you know understands how he conducts business prior to contemplating bidding on one of his items. FWIW, I have found it’s better to beat them to the punch. I have had pretty good success with the following: When I put the payment in the mail, I send an email to the seller, saying: Your payment for item xxx is on the way. If you wish to go ahead and prepare the shipping label, the item will be shipped to: shipping information Once you have received my payment in a timely manner and are happy that I have fulfilled my end of the transaction to your satisfaction, I will appreciate your leaving me feedback to that effect. When I receive the item promptly and as described, I will leave positive feedback for you. I hope this transaction has been to your satisfaction and that perhaps we may do business again. Regards, Ron
