Question:
That is why it is important to leave feedback when the transaction in complete. Clearly, since the check bounced, the transaction wasn’t complete. This is one of the major reasons why it is important to wait till the dust settles and everyone is happy before posting feedback. Well, maybe he’ll neg you to add insult to injury if you irritate him. Good luck. Thanks Mike avcokey on ebay

If I’m buying from someone with 450 positives or 4500 positives it won’t make any difference to me. I’ll look at recent feedback and see how many negs are in there.
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hi all, I have been lurking here for a few months.. Now I need some advice. Should I Be a feedback witholder ? I have left over 800 feedbacks, but I have only recieved 450 or so in return. When I started I felt that feedback for my buyers should be left upon reciept of payment. Seems like the right thing to do. I see that one of my ‘competitors’ (who sells the same items) looks like he holds feedback until it is recieved . He has 920 rec’d to 1020 given. Mabye that is the way to go. Many of my auctions go to ’newbies’ so mabye they need a little incentive to leave FB ? Thanks Mike

Thanks For the reponses. I’m not ‘hung up’ on the feedback thing, It just bugs me a little. I think I will continue leaving FB upon reciept of payment (its just easier) Richards right – better to have 56% Honestly , after it hits 500 , I don’t think the number will make a difference to anyone ( as long as it stays ++ Of course today I get my first bad check and I had already left this jerk positive FB! I like to give feedback as soon as payment comes in. But then I also send out a mass email reminder to all the bidders of the month to leave feedback. Tim 9/23 My coded email is: endoftime$$stnJ.rr.com, but change the $$ to @ and the J to y. My birthday is 9/23.

If you get 56%, I’d be willing to bet that you’re getting just about as many as most people who won’t leave feedback till the buyer does, if you compare percentage of feedback left to total auctions. You might leave more feedback than they do, but I doubt they’re getting any more than you do. How much do you want to bet that the competitor whose received 920 has had a whole lot more total auctions than you did? Which scenario would you prefer, out of 1000 auctions where you got paid promptly: 1. You leave 1000 positives, you get 560 positives back. Ratio – 56% 2. Your customers leave you 450 positives, you give 450 back. Ratio – 100% Of course option number 2 will have the added benefit of irritating customers, so that they might tend to avoid your auctions in the future. Nothing like leaving a bad taste in your customers’ mouths to avoid that annoying repeat business. Also keeps away those pests who contact you after they got the item, and ask if you’d contact them first if you got any more of the merchandise they bought, and give them a chance to buy it off of eBay. Heaven knows you don’t want their money. The way I look at it, as a seller, worrying about whether or not people reciprocate with feedback is terribly counterproductive. As a seller, my prime objective is to receive money, not feedback. Concentrating more on the feedback than the money tends to drive away buyers, and reduce the total amount of money. Unless what you sell is absolutely unique, people don’t have to buy it from you. Since you have a competitor who sells the same items you do, your merchandise isn’t absolutely unique.
