Question:
Thanks for your comments, Bill. It was a pleasure doing business with you as well. Thanks again! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I recently purchased an amp from Carl Rothman on Ebay. The amp was in perfect condition, very well taken care of and exactly as he had described. The care with which he took in shipping it was above and beyond anything I’ve received from any store, catalog or individual. All the way from New York to North Carolina. If I had the money, I would buy the Les Paul Standard DC because I’m sure it’s in excellent condition and at a fair price based on my dealings with Carl. Bill

- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Yuck Foo- (clever name) Thanks for the helpful, reinforcing words about the LP DC. I also appreciate your reinforcement of its value (ie. price). They simply are great guitars. I really hate to let mine go, but everything has its time and place. This is a good buy, guys (gals). Research it before you let it go. Yeah, the LP DC Std is a great guitar. Right now, my former 98 LP DC Std. is being played through a Naylor 38 in Minneapolis by the lead singer/guitarist of "57 Stitch". Anyone familiar with this band can ask them who "Chops" is. Since he’s a friend and a good player, I sold it to him at a special price, but mind you, the things are worth $1300-$1400 in very fine shape. I put Fralins in it before I sold it, and it gave it the classic 70s rock LP sound. Good question. I currently own four excellent electrics, none of which I have time to play enough of. I own a Fender Strat Plus, a ‘98 Collectors Edition Tele and a Gibson ES335 besides the LP DC. The 335 was bought for me by my wife and kids as a special gift. I love it, it has special meaning to me, it has vibe as it’s nearing ‘vintage’ (it’s a ‘90) and it has all the ‘humbucker’ sounds I could use. I use it most of the time. The LP DC, as great as it is, sits in its case virtually unused and wasted. Recently, I sold my first amp from my collection of four amps, got over the ‘loss’, and I began to realize I have to let go of some things, nice as they are, sometimes. Anyone looking at PRS’s should consider this guitar first. Get a guitar built AS WELL, with tone AS GOOD, at a substantially better price. These may be the best guitars Gibson ever built. If any readers doubt the LP DC is what I say it is, read Ed Roman’s World Class Guitar review at http://www.edromanguitars.com/guitar/fggiblpd.htm which, by the way, explains that the new ones (2000-1), recently introduced, are NOT as good as the original ’98’s, so a direct price comparison of a ’98 LP DC with a NEW LP DC is not comparing apples to apples. So, now you know my situation, why I’m selling and how I feel about it. It’s probably a mistake to sell this guitar at this time, but I’ve always been the kind of guy to play the stock market by buying high and selling low!!
My mistake can be your gain. Thanks for your inquiry. Why are you selling it? I have for sale a beautiful ‘98 Les Paul Standard DC (double cutaway). The color is amber serrano and it has gold hardware. It has a flawless AAA maple top. It is one of the best finished guitars I’ve ever seen and it has wonderful playability and tone. It is set up very well. I am the original owner. This guitar has absolutely no flaws, imperfections, mars, dings or scratches that I can see. I maintain all of my gear in excellent condition and this piece is no exception. The original hard shell case (OHSC) is included, of course. Everything is in original condition. I live in the L.I./NYC metro area if you want to come see it, or come pick it up! Asking $1325.

Peace to you Polfus, The guitar has been pampered and babied-its in the same cond. as I bought it new (minus about 60 hours of studio time playing her).I’m selling because I’m not ready to make a long term commitment just yet. I liked her-I bought her…I played her-I loved her. There’s just so many Gibsons to be played- and so little time to do it. Guess I just gots fickle fingers. Pax, Dave
