Question:
If anybody out there happens to have the address to the O’Day company (I’m assuming they’re still in business….), could they kindly send it along?? Much appreciated… -jeff

Used to have the address, and the phone number and contact name – probably still do. Unfortunately, the company no longer exists. Another of the major boating institution failures. Sorry. Jeff Huntington
Response:
Yes, the O’Day company has gone the way of so many sailboat makers. However there is hope if it is boat parts you are needing. There was a thread in the news network about the O’Day Daysailor possibly going into production by another builder; you might repost for the Daysailor cognizant on the net. I do know that the Javelin is to be produced by Blue Fin Yachts–I can provide you with more information if desired. If it is another boat you are concerned about, you might be able to get information from U. S. Sailing (formerly the USYRU). Email me and I will dig up their address if so desired. Good luck!

If you’re just looking for parts or other owners… The O’Day/Cal owner’s association can be reached at: Captain’s Log P.O.Box15 Raynham, MA (don’t have the zipcode) They send out a newsletter every other month with articles from current owners of both Cal’s and O’Days, and from the designers (C.Raymond Hunt) of most of the O’Days… and currently organize annual rendezvous in Newport RI and the Chesapeake area (more to come if other areas are interested in setting up their own). D&R Enterprises 68 S.Main St P.O. Box 921 Assonet, MA 02702-0921 (508) 644-3001 (508) 644-3002 (fax) carries lots of replacement parts for O’Days and can find most parts that they don’t have in stock… Rudy and his partner used to work for O’Day. (they also have the color recipes for the original gelcoat colors and will mix up batches of it and sell it by the pint or quart). A year or so ago they bought the molds for the smaller boats (24′ and under) and started building them (rehiring some O’Day builders) under the name "Sunrise". I ran into Rudy at the boat show in Newport this past weekend and he mentioned that they’re buying (or bought?) the rest of the designs/molds and the "O’Day" name and will build any of the larger boats (27, 29, 30, 32, 35, 40) custom made, on a per order basis (not enough market to justify production line quantities, which is one of the reasons that O’Day went under in the first place). They will work with you to build it the way you want (as he said: "If you want a purple boat, we’ll build you a purple boat"). ..Mike 87 O’Day 272 "Moriah"

The Day Sailer is now made by Sunfish Laser (makers of Sunfish, Laser, and Zuma as well). They have adds in most of the sailing magazines.
