Question:
I was at a flea market this weekend and picked up a file handle. It’s not just any file handle. I’ve never seen one like this. It’s cast iron with a sort of "waffle" pattern to it and hollow on the inside. You can see through the squares in the waffle. It makes a sort of cage. On the business end is a collar with a thumb screw in it to secure it to the tang of a file. On the handle, it says E. W. Stearns & Co. Syracuse, NY. I had to part with $6 for this thing, but it was worth it to me because I thought it was cute (not to mention the fact that it came with a 10" rat tail). Could this thing possibly be worth more? If it’s worth enough, I might ebay it. Otherwise, I’m just going to stick it in my file drawer and try to wear some of the paint off. Thanks, Doug Nicholson
