transaction not completed

Question:

I was notified by a seller that my item was broken as it was waiting to be packaged. What do I do so it is clear that the failure to complete transaction is not my fault?     Also, I BIN’d this item at a price ($200) that was slightly over half of what this same item has been selling for on eBay recently. I find myself wondering if the seller discovered how much more they could get for it and decided to back out. Should I see this seller with the same item listed at a higher price in the near future do I have any recourse?

I wouldn’t assume that the buyer is trying to mess with you. I’ve broken things after they were sold, and it was an honest error on my part. It happens sometimes. If you get your money back promptly, and the seller was courteous about it, I’d leave them a positive FB for being honest. After all, they could have packaged it broken and tried to blame the PO — that would be evil! — Visit Maiasaura Books & The Dog Collector at http://www.maiasaura.com/ Bat Boy Lives! Response:

I recently bought an item that was BIN for about half of what it’d usually cost on ebay… I bought it striaght away and thankfully the seller didn’t back out and gave it to me for the BIN price.

Nothing.   Your seller should do an NPB *but* choose    the "mutual agreement" option.   That will not put any    black mark on your record.    Certainly the seller can’t "neg" you, when they’re the    one who caused the no-sale. Also, I BIN’d this item at a price ($200) that was slightly over half of what this same item has been selling for on eBay recently.     It’s possible, but I’d prefer to think that the seller was     being honest with you.   They set the BIN, you didn’t –     and it’s obvious they wanted a pretty quick sale.     Remember that succeeding items usually sell for less,     because there’s fewer people bidding on them (ie,     the ones who drove the first one high don’t want/need     another one). Should I see this seller with the same item listed at a higher price in the near future do I have any recourse?

I guess you could send a nasty email, but I doubt that     would do any good (and *could* result in a neg).  IF     that’s the case, just be glad that this transaction fell     through; you really don’t want to do business with a     cheat, do you? Kris
