Uh-Oh another 0 feedbacker just won my auction

Question:

I’ve had a couple deadbeats in the past. I hope this one works out. If you sell a lot, what percentage of new buyers with 0 feed back skip on you? If this buyer skips, I’m rejecting bids and blocking them on future auctions. John

About 50% of my NBP’s are zeros but a lot of successful business is from zero’s as well Mike Ebay store: www.professionalpoker.com

Far fewer than buyers with higher feedback. — Many thanks, Don Lancaster Synergetics   3860 West First Street  Box 809  Thatcher, AZ 85552 Please visit my GURU’s LAIR web site at http://www.tinaja.com

- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I have always had good transactions with 0 feedback users, my widgets are unique hand made items and they sign up just to buy them sometimes. Last week ( the 23rd.) I had one use BIN, I looked at the notice and saw the 0 feedback and thought nothing of it, 2 days later I send my 2nd. notice out and still no reply on the 3rd.day, so I ask for contact info from eBay, nada, the post from eBay was empty. I sent another notice out then from the eBay site. Still no reply after 5 notices sent. Just out of curiosity, I looked at the ID and it contained the start of a web address that is in an area related to the use of my widgets, so after following the url I find the bidder ‘could’ be legitimate and unable to get my posts/or/they were being filtered. I have a perfect score and don’t want to jeopardize that so I will problably block bids from him/her, eat the fees, and move on. I am begining to feel that it was a bid from a competitor with a throwaway account. The point being I wills till take bids from newbies, though it will make me skittish for awhile. granpaw

Don’t eat the fees.  File to get them back as soon as you can.  You don’t have to leave negative feedback to get your fees back.  If you have tried to contact the bidder and they won’t respond, chances are good they won’t respond to an NPB report, either.  If they get 3 of those, negative feedback or not, they’ll be NARU’d.

Recently I had a newbie who emailed me alot to ask how EBay works.  He bid on my stuff, won multiple auctions, and paid fast. Great transaction.

If you offer a truly unique item, odds are it will draw in bidders who never bothered to sign up before, because there was nothing of interest. They are not only going to have 0 FB, but most likely be your best buyers. — Outgoing mail is certified bollocks

I never cancel bids from anyone unless they are a previous deadbeat for me.  There is always the chance that they can be outbid.  Even if they don’t pay, I had to pay to list, anyway.  I can file for FVF credit and it’s just like no one bid. As some have said, I find that 0 feedback people are often the best buyers.

If this buyer skips, I’m rejecting bids and blocking them on future auctions. John Of the 4 NPB’s I’ve had over the past 2 years, three were 0 or 1 feedback buyers. The other was a 37 feedback buyer who claimed someone else in the house was using her account. But I’ve sold stuff to 15 or 20 new Ebayers who promplty paid. One time I cancelled the bid and blocked a guy with a 1 feedback who bid up a used 20gig HDD to $65…..more than the cost of a new warrantied 40-60gig drive. He was pissed, but I didn’t think he’d  pay for the auction once he’d realized what he’d done. He might have, but I’d just had 2 NPB’s and didn’t want to chance it.

Thanks for the info. Now I’m beating my head against the wall. I checked the winning bidder’s feed back. He/She has a positive and a recent neg giving him a goose egg. I should have checked before the auction ended! The bid stood for a few days and outbid someone with good rep. John
