Question:
I always send out my EOA email immediately at the close of auction, and wait for a response. I ask them to send me their preferred method of payment and shipping address by return email. Lately I’ve had buyers who do not respond and just about the time I get a little nervous I remember to check to see if they’ve used billpoint, and bingo! At least if they use paypal, paypal sends you the "You’ve got cash" notice.
I find that BillPoint’s "you’ve been paid" emails come in more dependably than PayPal’s. But, I check my accounts about noon daily, to make sure I’ve not missed anything. I just successfully bid on an item, and paid within minutes after the end of auction. That was two nights ago and I still haven’t heard from the Seller. I just sent another email tonight asking for acknowledgment of payment.
You won on Friday or Saturday night, and this is a 3-day "holiday" weekend. Those days wouldn’t even be included in most definitions of "3 business days". I don’t know about anyone else here, but I enjoy email exchanges with my customers and have made some lasting, long-distance friendships that way.
It takes two. I have some repeat buyers who I’ve made become close friends with, and I enjoy those associations. But…I’ve had a few lonelyhearts (?) turn out to be virtual pests, who put me on their mailing lists for JesusGrams and every email hoax that comes down the pike, and who I eventually had to ignore. One sent weekly "family" letters, and I learned about her alcoholic husband, her sick kids, and her crazy mother. I don’t like this impersonal way of doing business, but I guess as long as they pay I should just shut up…..
Lois I think sellers *should* acknowledge receipt of payment, even if it’s just a "Thanks!" email. I have a short canned text that I send out, telling buyers that they’ll get a USPS email with their Delivery Confirmatoin number in it and I give them the URL of the USPS tracking site. That seems to comfort people a lot, and I don’t have to engage in multiple "I got payment", "I am wrapping your package", "I will go to the PO this afternoon", "It’s been mailed", and "did you receive it?" emails. Of course, my friends don’t get that kind of thing, and we do some gossip

Yep, just remember, it could be a lot worse. Myself, if given the choice, I’d take the cash

LOL, I hear ya. Seems that this week has been a bad one for buyers with me. I send out my eoa emails asking for shipping info. Just this last week, out of 480 sales, I have only had 180 or so replies. Generally I have 97% luck with people, but this last week, no one is responding. oh well. lol — www.times2bbs.com – Just another eBay community chat forum for anyone to learn how to buy and sell on ebay and yahoo auctions. If you want penpals, try a chat room. But there’s something betwixt and between, here. I’m not terribly sociable myself, and the lack of personal contact is one of the things I like about eBay, but there’s something between getting a penpal and being treated like a machine. I prefer a bit more than a check in the mail, or an e-mail that says, "Send to xxx." Just an acknowledgement that we’re both human beings, that’s all I ask. "Hi, this is my address. I’m paying by check; you should have it by Friday," is enough. Bonita
