There are a few xenophobes about, but I’ve found that most (not all) sellers will export to Europe, provided you ask nicely and have a good feedback profile. You must be willing to pay the way they want - which is fair enough. Unless you deal in very high value items, and lots of them, the risks and expenses of setting up forwarding will never be worth it. Plus sending to an address that isn’t the payer is more of a risk than sending to Europe; no intelligent seller would expose themselves to such an obvious potential scam. And anyway, on ebay generally, it almost always pays to wait, rather than buy the first ‘bargain’ that comes along. — Andrew eBay Weirdities http://www.weirdity.com/ebay/

Who/what don’t you trust; the Seller, Shipper? If you deal with a reputable seller and a shipper that services the UK, pay with your credit card so problems can be disputed; why would you think you would be any more vulnerable than a US consumer? We regularly don’t ship abroad either, cuz the additional postage required, $conversion charges, and any customs paperwork don’t make most of our items profitable to market abroad. However if requested, we have reconsidered. Suggest sending the eBay Seller a question, requesting reconsideration, suggest a foriegn shipper satisfactory to you (e.g., USPS, DHL), and offer to pay reasonable additional handling charges for the item you want. You just may become a valued repeat customer. DanlK, FYI Services Collectibles www.FYIS.org

I’m willing to do that but standing in the post office doesn’t fit in with the sellers daily schedule. That means I’m being forced to pay a considerable extra amount to setup a forwarding address ($50 + $15 a month) from a 3rd party company, and hope not to get scammed

The forwarding company. The OP is talking about services that will receive a parcel for him (from sellers in the US who don’t ship outside the US) and relay it to him. —-== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com – Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==—- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups —-= East and West-Coast Server Farms – Total Privacy via Encryption =—-

I keep seeing items on eBay USA and various US E-commerce websites that I’d like to buy, but being in the UK this is a problem. I’ve seen several companies offering forwarding services, but don’t know who to trust. Has anyone had any experience with such companies or recommendations to make?
Do any of them sell the service on eBay (does ebay even allow such a service to be listed)? If so, the feedback reveals all. For non-eBay vendors, do a Google search (web and groups) looking for complaints, look for a company with a physical address and a credit card account, make a short list of possibilities, and post the list here for others to comment on.
