Question:
www.keh.com usually has a boatload of "K" and "M" series Asahi lenses. But have you considered www.keh.com for your used-lens shopping? I consider their prices quite reasonable and have been completely satisfied with the quality of the merchandise.
I have always found KEH ratings to be very conservative, and equipment from them to be almost always a pleasure to receive. However, I have also found KEH prices to be a bit high. Fred

Pentax brand lenses often get bid way up there, but 3rd party lenses can be had for a song. I’ve picked up 80’s vintage Vivitar Series One lenses for $60. 28-80 f3.5s and f4s are a dime a dozen on ebay. Okay, more like $25-40, maybe less. And you can pick up Vivitar 283 flashes for about $40-50 (and often a lot less). These are powerful units (ASA 100 guide number = 120).
As a matter of fact – I’m about to post some (positive) feedback for the following auctions I won: Pentax Takumar 135mm f2.5 $12.32 Ricoh XR-M body $17.06 Vivitar 283 flash $31.57 The lens has a miniscule amount of fungus (might come in useful when more grows and I can use it as a portrait lens.. ^O^), the camera body has a mirror that occasionally sticks "up" (and releases when I tap the body on my palm). The flash just looks a little ugly, works fine. Only problem is that now I have 5 K mount bodies.. and about 4 lenses that cover 135mm.. ^_^;; Other recent buys: my Vivitar 19mm f3.5 just arrived from B&H. Nice! And cheap – $105 + shipping. — Iskandar Taib | The only thing worse than Peach ala Home page: http://bigwig.geology.indiana.edu/iskandar/isk2.html

OK… my daughter is now studying photography at college. I’ve given her my beloved ME Super… now she wants some additional lenses! Sheesh, kids. I’ve looked on eBay, but either prices seem silly or I’m being unrealistic. If you have any Pentax K stuff for sale (specifically a wide angle 28mm, medium zoom 35-80 and short telephoto 135mm, a 2x convert, macro lens and flash) – then I know one dad and daughter who would appreciate it!
Actually, ebay prices aren’t bad, if you can keep yourself from falling in love with any particular item. If bidding goes above what you’re willing to pay, drop the item and look for another one. Dave: I have looked at eBay for Pentax K lenses as well. And I have compared eBay prices with many other places. I do not know what you expect to find but my view is that there are good deals on eBay for what you are looking for. You just have to be patient and follow the auctions for a while to have a good feel for what they go for. What you are looking for are not scarce and can be bought at relatively decent prices. What really are expensive some hard to find Pentax K lenses such as the 20mm, 24mm, 85mm, 105mm. Since you are looking at K lenses for your daughter who is new to photography, I suggest that you also look at non Pentax lenses such as Vivitar for example which made very good K manual focus lenses. I think the quality of Vivitar auto focus lenses for Pentax is not as high as in the past. Dave — I don’t have any for sale, and I haven’t seen the ebay prices. But have you considered www.keh.com for your used-lens shopping? I consider their prices quite reasonable and have been completely satisfied with the quality of the merchandise.
