Question:
… the guns that kill your soldiers in irak say MADE IN USA on them… Kalashnikov factory is in Dallas, I think.
hahah. you are the funniest MADE IN AMERICA person on this newsgroup.

When the boxes get here (back here) they will probably still have "U.S." on the side of them. yes maybe… in the same sense like the guns that kill your soldiers in irak say MADE IN USA on them. well, not sure if guns say "MADE IN.." on them I’m not an expert on this subject, but I’m sure you get the point. Why do you hate freedom?
Is this trick question? I feel tricked. instead of talking about me, which is not that interesting, lets talk about you. I would like to congratulate you on being one of the rare few Americans, since we are talking about Americans here, who knows and appreciates what freedom is. Many, too many of you, are too fat to think straight about anything other than what next should go down their throats or what next to watch on TV. now, one can argue, and I’m sure many of you Americans would, that this is what freedom is all about, being able to choose what next thing one should eat, or watch on TV… which is fine with me… because you see, FREEDOM is anything and everything, subjective, what you want it to be. and as a consequence, it does not matter whether you hate it or love it. we adjust. even prisoners serving life in jail manage to create FREEDOM for themselves. we just adjust. so…. I don’t want to turn this into a debate over irak’s situation… you can say you went there to save them and make it better, another can say your soldiers are dying for oil…. but like I said, we just adjust, we all continue to live even in worst situations, under Saddam or under some other ruler.. everyone just lives out their little lives and everyone has their freedom… and even those who under his rule were persecuted or even killed, well, they still found their freedom in their death. but anyway.. this discussion can go on for a while, and I have a short attention span. its come to an end just now. I still feel this was trick question though. goodnite.

there is some funds I have in my paypal account that I’d like to get transfered to my local canadian bank, however my canadian dollar is not worth about 85cents of your USD. do you good folks of the united states forsee your currency will go up again in value soon? the fact that PP’s exchange rate sucks compared to say ebay’s XE.COM does not of course help the situation. well, maybe its not EBAYS xe.com I’m not sure, but I think this is what they use to convert between currencies. maybe the two should get synchronized since ebay runs paypal.
I’m actually happy with it. It means that I can afford to win ebay auctions in America now. American ebayers might do more international business because of it!

wow! I just realized its the highest the CAN$ vs USD has been in the past 2 or maybe even more years!!! More like 10 or 15.
wow. quite amazing. and it took a natural disaster to do it. I have to invest some CAN$ and buy some of your US dollars with it! this could be good investment when you fix your problems and get back to dominating the world. It’s good to think long term.
it won’t be that long I’m sure. its never long enough. I tell you, 1-2 months and CNN will be back to Irak coverage. hmmm.. how many of your US dollars should I buy you think, to make it worth my while when reselling later on? Does this look like a good investment to you? Or a good short? Or a falling knife? http://finance.yahoo.com/currency/convert?from=USD&to=CAD&amt=1&t=5y
I dunno. buying 50-100k USD today maybe be a good investment. I can’t afford that. buying less may be just a waste of time, as you say. But if you want to gamble, there are far better ways to do it than buying currency outright, which is expensive. You can easily control $1m in forex (only 10 contracts). Just a penny change (in the right direction, of course, and you make $10K). Of course it *cuts* both ways.
hm…maybe the best investment I can make now is to make YOU into my personal financial conseille. how is this for an idea?

Wrong. I have it on *very* good authority that it will be next *Thursday,* not Wednesday. (I heard this from another loan originator from a different wing of our building today. She said *she* heard it from someone at Navy Federal Credit Union, and she figured that made it double-special accurate.) — Ty Who is mostly just a slightly skewed Donna Reed "I don’t make judgments about why people chose not to leave but, you know, there was a mandatory evacuation of New Orleans." –FEMA Director Mike Brown, blaming storm victims for their misery after Hurricane Katrina; CNN, Thursday, 9/1/05

well, maybe its an exaggeration, your right. its just that you have been dominated now by mother nature, the only thing you cannot ever dominate. maybe if you (or all of us) realized nature is not there so we fight with it, things like this will not happen. but we are a long way from that… and from the main topic also. so thats that on that.

Nobody knows. The C$ is partly strong because the USD is weak against most other currencies, and partly because of resource strength. Katrina has made interest rate hikes less likely, so my guess is that things won’t change much in the near term, maybe get a bit worse. That advice, of course, is worth exactly what you paid for it, or possibly a bit less. the fact that PP’s exchange rate sucks compared to say ebay’s XE.COM does not of course help the situation. well, maybe its not EBAYS xe.com I’m not sure, but I think this is what they use to convert between currencies. maybe the two should get synchronized since ebay runs paypal.
They take an extra 2.5% ($250.00 on $10K) over the interbank rate to line their pockets. It’s better to spend the money in the good old USofA. Generally, whenever you convert back and forth, crumbs fall off and someone else pockets them. thank you for this comment. typically there are scenerios I am familiar with as far as getting my USD from PP in canada: option one (worst for me) is I use the TRANSFER feature directly in paypal account. second option is to use my PP in a local canadian bank MACHINE, pay the $1US withdrawl fee and get roughly $1-2CAN more per $100CAN withdrawn than I would get with option one. don’t really know why. this uses pin number. there is another option which is to take the debit card directly to a bank, give it to teller, no pin, and say I want a cash advance on it. this gives me pretty much same amount as option 2, plus I pay no $1 transaction fee, plus I get 1.5% cashback. however, and I’m sure there are other canadian with same dilema, when I do this, something somewhere along line gets messy, and I end up with a paypal debit for X$ as it should be, which never clears! instead there is another debit for same amount 2-4 days later. and the first one just sits there for 10 days of inactivity, after which time funds get released. this is pathetic, I tried asking why, of course, everyone is too lazy to do the extra work to find out no mattter how rude on the phone I get. whats the problem with this you may say… well, problem is, after first debit of X$ I usually have no more funds for the 2nd debit a few days later. but anyway, even I did, waiting 10 days for first debit to be released is pure nonsense. thank you.
