Violators of the Ebay Boycott May Face Physical Violence

Question:

What, your going to send Quido thru the connection to the Internet to look at me funny, to throw cattle over the castle wall towards me?  I fart in your general direction. And, of course, you are going to compensate people for following your admonitions? — Don Strevel in Las Vegas http://www.mysecretvegas.com

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Just a warning. Tomorrow, February 18, 2005 begins the week long Ebay Boycott, enacted due to the Ebay’s latest price increase, which is intended to gouge their sellers. This is just a cautionary reminder that the organizers of this boycott are very serious, and everyone, whether seller or buyer, is urged to support this boycott.  Anyone who does not adhere to this boycott may face physical violence and/or harassment.  This is particularly aimed at sellers who attempt to list items on Ebay during the boycott, but may also affect buyers who bid on any remaining Ebay items. It is hopeful that everyone will support the boycott, and no one will be injured due to violations of the boycott.  If you have items currently listed on Ebay, please let them run their course and expire. Anything that was listed or any bids on items listed prior to the start of the boycott will not be affected.  Feel free to pay for these previously listed items, and to complete transactions.  However, it is highly recommended that you do not use Paypal to pay for these items, since Paypal is owned by the Ebay company, and Paypal is also being boycotted. As a final note, if you must buy or sell online during this week long boycott, please support any of the other online auction services. This message is being posted by an independent supporter of the Ebay boycott. *** SUPPORT THE FEBRUARY 18, 2005 EBAY BOYCOTT ***

[stupid troll post snipped] I hope this troll is aware that under current law there is not much room for even stupid joke troll posts which threaten potential harm to other people. Smart enough to use Forte Agent + dumb enough to not post anonymously through a proxy equals idiot.

Description of "STOOL PIGEON"

An idiot who thinks a boycott will really have any impact on eBay. Generally, the person’s stool is hard and malformed from constant probing which results in the dreaded impacted turd.  A stool softener or a coat hanger can help relieve this infliction. Rita

Response:

Yes Rita.. that is why EBay already backed off some of the upcharges and has given away more freebies and had the 10cent listing day.. Because so few people spoke out.. So while your sucking the feebay crack pipe.. and getting your fix for a bit less over the next few months.. please thank those idiots who have far better sense then you for trying to slow the 800lb gorilla eBay from gaping their asses! Response:

[snip trollery] I’ve figured it out.  You’re actually AGAINST the boycott, and you come here trolling and being as obnoxious as possible while touting the boycott to induce everyone else to avoid it, too.  Pretty effective, too, your last post threatening to beat up anyone who didn’t go along with the boycott certainly made me lost any marginal interest I’d had in supporting it. -Bertha — Hi Jimbo.  Dennis.  Really appreciate the help on the income tax.  You wanna help on the audit now?                   — The Rockford Files

Dave G I’ll be listing great heaping bunches of items today. eBay is an outstanding bargain. You mean both you and your wife Rita will be listing?  Two peas in a pod, Two stool pigeons, two idiots !!! By the way, since you got lots of money to throw away, how about donating a few hundred dollars to every ebay seller who is struggling to to stay in business. ATTN: Struggling auction sellers.  Don Lancaster is loaded with money, and wants Ebay to raise their prices.  However he knows you are struggling and will give each of you a few hundred dollars.  Be sure to bombard his email with requests for you piece of the pie.  After all, you earned it from him. Tell all your friends to email him for their money too, and be sure to add him to their "do not buy" list. Of course, a few of you will have to buy something from him, just so you can ruin his feedback.  He already sold someone an item with missing instructions and a missing bolt on item 5700385301.  Go ahead, waste a few bucks on his junk, just so you can give the worst possible feedback. One last thing, Don.  You were warned about possible violence, and it looks like you are begging for it.  The thing you don’t seem to realize is that violence over the internet don’t entail the use of fists or guns, we just notify buyers about you, and trash your feedback  Prepare to have your name spread all over the internet, particularly the Boycott websites, so everyone knows that you are an Ebay stool pigeon.  It looks like your days of selling on Ebay will soon be gone.  Remember, it takes buyers to sell your junk, and you’re losing them quickly……. Your threatening postings on this newsgroup have been archived and will be sent to the proper webmasters. And by the way, I got a boycott to monitor and no more time to waste posting to you …..   PLONK

Thank you for your kind words. There, of course, is no item 5700385301 on eBay. Our one (and only ever) neutral was on a very minor and unneeded cosmetic part missing from a three cents on the dollar purchase of an impossibly difficult to find item. The situation was carefully explained to the buyer and a full refund of all costs was offered. We go to exceptional lengths towards customer satisfaction. Which is one reason why our eBay techniques work so spectacularly well for us. We are glad to assist other eBay sellers in any manner we can. No, eBay was just showing the community how much they appreciate our business by giving us all these wonderful thank you’s.  I was so pleased with eBay’s decision to raise the fees, granted they didn’t raise them enough to the required 18.75%, but it’s a start.  And to show my defiance of the assholes running the boycott I was able to list 73 auctions before 12:00 EST.  Most of them have a starting price of $99.95 and a fair reserve combined with a nice BIN.  Oh, I also used the gallery pic to rub salt in the boycotter’s wounds. There is something criminally low and insane.. its YOUR IQ!

Why thank you for the kind words.  You see, I have an excuse for my IQ since I’m a natural blonde.  What’s your excuse? Rita

Some people just can’t comprehend the importance of great customer service. Great customer service virtually eliminates all problems such as dissatisfied buyers and chargebacks.  You also reap the rewards of repeat off-eBay business that ultimately reduces eBay’s criminally and insanely low fees to the point of almost nonexistent. When I see a whiner posting about all the problems they are having with buyers I immediately know who’s at fault. Rita

Ya know, I didn’t really care much about it one way or another, but after reading this I want to buy stuff on ebay during the boycott just because I don’t like bullies telling me what to do. -Bertha — It is now quite lawful for a Catholic woman to avoid pregnancy by a resort to mathematics, though she is still forbidden to resort to physics and chemistry.  – H.L. Yeah, but do you believe that’s a real threat or a. someone’s idea of a legpull; b. a way to discredit the boycott or c. usenet weirdness? Maybe it’s all a big marketing ploy by ebay. I’ll be bidding tomorrow, but that’s ’cause an item I want ends then, not because of the boycott, either way. Martha — Sig pending

Ya know, I actually thought about that shortly after reading the original post–maybe it was made by someone who’s against the boycott, aiming to undermine any support it may have. I’ll be bidding tomorrow, but that’s ’cause an item I want ends then, not because of the boycott, either way.

I probably won’t, but just cause I’m not in the market for anything at the moment.  I’m saving up for a new pair of skates. -Bertha — I don’t have a solution, but I admire your problem.
