I have found Weider "Weight Sets" sell very well on Ebay, especially to overseas customers. The 800 pound squat machines do excellent too.
And I’m always amazed when my customers overlook the potential savings by airmail vs. global express just to get them about 2 days earlier.

I have noticed that Out of Print DVD’s (usually in the horror genre) tend to always get bids. The highest that I know odf if an OOP DVD of the cult classic "Salo". My understanning is that they tend to sell for over $500.00. – Wayne

Odd, I did a search under Completed auctions for Makita and Dewalt, and I saw a number of auctions that ended without bids. I guess you don’t know quite as much as you though you did, do you? Same thing goes for any of the items you named. There isn’t anything that you can say will always sell, because there are far too many variables other than the item being listed. List a widget with an opening bid of $1, it may get a dozen bids and sell for $40. List it for an opening bid of $75, you generally won’t get any bids. If the widget costs you $80, you wouldn’t consider it a great selling item regardless of which way you listed it. You can’t make a list of "best selling items", because how well something sells depends on how someone lists it, the price they start it at, and what they had to pay for it, none of which are standard for all eBay sellers.
Let’s not forget things like quality of pictures, seller’s feedback, location and accepted payment methods… all of which have effects on how or IF something sells. I hate to disagree with the vast experience you’ve acquired while earning your 20 positive feedback, but the experience I’ve gotten earning my 1231 positives tell me there is no magic "best selling product".

An interesting question from a curiosity standpoint, but not really of any practical value. The best-selling item on eBay may well be netting its sellers almost nothing in profits. A more useful question (to which there would also be no easy answer) would be "what is the most profitable item sold on eBay?" Selling things on eBay is a lot more complicated than just seeing what everyone else is selling successfully. The trick is to figure out what *you* can sell successfully. Whatever the best-selling item is, it’s probably not something that I’d care to be selling.

#1 is CD-Rs containing software you can download for free over the Internet. Ten thousand of these are for sale on any given day. #2 is Spy stuff (do a title search on "spy"). Spy software is very popular, but there are goggles, cameras, video gear, etc. #3 is CD-Rs that tell you how to make money on eBay. There are LOTS of them for sale at all times. #4 is Banned stuff. Again, there is an emphasis on software, but banned books and banned cartoons also do well. #5 is Collection software. It’s actually the same trash software spammed into all the categories as "Software to manage your XXX collection". I don’t have any statistics on how much all this stuff sells for, but surely people wouldn’t keep listing them if they didn’t sell. People like Richard Ward who try to sell something real, of real value, obviously just don’t understand the Internet economy. Bill Turner

Dustin, Calm yourself down. You have not answered the OP’s question. He asked what the best selling item on ebay is , and you have listed some items that "never end without a bid". That circumvents the answer is a number of ways, one being a list of items is not AN item,another being that ending without bids doesn’t make IT a best seller, etc. Think about the silliness of your answer in response to the silly question. Think too, that if there were a "best – selling " item, chances are someone would be selling it, and certainly not sitting on a ng telling you what it is.

. First off, it’s Usenet. When you post, you get to say when you want; when others post, they get to say what they want. Secondly, there’s nothing in the group description about helping anybody, let alone helping people to be successful, so you can’t really object to somebody who doesn’t share your belief that that’s the group’s purpose.
