Feedback – Lack of?

Question:

MoonDogii51

Congrats! Sometimes, a good whine makes things come true. Kris

Response:

Maybe I am missing something, but I have 8 completed transactions as a seller, all items have been received by bidders, but i have received zero feedbacks from any of them.  Is there something that could possibly block them, or is this some type of phenomena

If you’re going into selling on eBay from the perspective of a buyer who always left feedback you will be disappointed by the lack of response from your own buyers. My personal (and limited) experience both buying and selling have left me with a 100% response rate from sellers and a 67% response rate from buyers. This discrepency most likely occurs (if I may offer my opinion) because sellers sense more keenly the importance of that little number in parentheses to the right of their eBay name than buyers do. Hope this helps. Gerald

Response:

Apologies.   Like others, I somehow missed the part that you DID leave feedback. Never *ask* for feedback, but maybe you could email them with this question:   "Hi – have you received your item yet?   I want to make sure all of my customers are happy with their purchases." Kris

For what it’s worth… I send them an email upon shipping that states I’d appreciate them letting me know their item has arrived safely, either through email and/or feedback. Normally, once I’ve heard from one person in the group of mailings (I always mail out a bunch of items at once) that it’s arrived safely, I go through and post feedbacks for all of them in that group.  If I feel there may be a problem, either through strange emails or complaining etc, I do not post feedback until I’ve heard from them to indicate that everything is fine. I then decide if I want to leave it or not.  So far, things have worked out alright this way. Also, if someone emails to say something arrived damaged, I thank them for letting me know so quickly so that I can send a replacement. I figure that it’s better to pat them on the head for everything they do good so they will continue to do it. I then put a ‘good communication’ comment in their feedback.

You know the items have been received, so there’s obviously no complaints.   Have YOU left feedback for the buyers? Kris

Yes I have, in some cases within a few minutes of payment receipt.  As a double check, I have looked at their feedbacks, and mine is listed.  I just thought it was kind of strange I had not received any, and figured maybe I had done something wrong like a configuration error or something – no big deal, just curious. Response:

MoonDogii51, after leaving over 170 positives, I just got my Turquoise Star today.  I have found that a lot of buyers just don’t see it as important. I also update a buyer’s fb when payment is received but doubt if that makes a difference. Best of luck. Chris

Umm, have you posted FB to them? If not, that’s the problem. Buyers expect sellers to post FB first. They actually expect you to post it as soon as they’ve paid, but it is more rational to wait until Acceptance. No, I have not done that, but I have checked the delivery confirmation on line and see that items are received.  I may follow your suggestion – good idea.  Aside from the auto notices, I email thanking them for the winning bid, payment, and when shipped or shipping. MoonDogii51

Are you thinking of another thread, maybe?

Yup. Never mind :-)

Particularly in a new seller, … That wasn’t apparent until a later post.

He said it in his first post–8 completed transactions, and no feedback for any of them. Being a 0FB or low-FB seller of an FSI (Frequently Scammed Item) is likely the problem here. Some of the malicious bids

Are you thinking of another thread, maybe?  He’s not reporting any malicious bids, he’s merely saying that he’s sold eight things and gotten no feedback. may even be from self-appointed vigilantes who are sure it’s a scam and think they’re doing the world a favor. By analogy, with the latest Fossett-Branson-Rutan aviation epic in mind … Every student pilot needs to make a first solo, but I wouldn’t recommend that it be an unrefueled circumnavigation of the planet. Starting your eBay sales career with a PDA

Is what somebody else in another thread (the "no low feedback buyers" guy) did, not this guy :-) . Deborah Stevenson

Response:

I have posted feedback to all, and immediately after receipt of payment … Well, stop doing that :-) If he wants feedback, that’s likelier to get him feedback than the other ways, though.

Agreed. That’s why there was a smiley. Particularly in a new seller, …

If he wants feedback, that’s likelier to get him feedback than the other ways, though.  Particularly in a new seller, where I’ve had to demonstrate a fair amount of confidence in sending the money off into the ether, I like to see an indication that they’re not reciprocating my financial trust with guarding their feedback. Well, stop doing that :-) All seriousness aside, consider the various arguments in recent threads about FB-when-paid vs. FB-upon-acceptance http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&group=alt.marketing.online.ebay – I just find it odd.

Any chance it’s related to what you sell? For example, people buying "performance-enhancement" potions and home test kits for dread diseases often don’t like to leave FB, as it ties them visibly to such sales. — Regards,                           PO Box 248 Bob Niland                         Enterprise which, due to spam, is:            67441-0248 email4rjn AT yahoo DOT com http://www.access-one.com/rjn Unless otherwise specifically stated, expressing personal opinions and NOT speaking for any employer, client or Internet Service Provider.
