Is it me, or…….

Question:

I agree with you.  As a seller, I always get the notices out ASAP, usually before the End of Auction notices come out, whether I make a good profit, break even, or lose money on it.  I think it’s important for business. does it seem like when, as a buyer, you get a really good deal on an item, the seller somtimes seems less than enthusiastic about the tranasction?  In other words, you don’t hear squat from them unless you e-mail them first, almost as if they hope they never hear from you.As a seller I make it a point

to get winning bid notices out within an hour – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -after the end of an auction, regardless of who got the better deal.  I want my customers to feel that I am on top of the transaction and the fast notice to them will hopefully give them a good feeling about the remainder of the transaction.

Response:

Yes, I’ve had that experience a number of times. I thought Richard’s points were well made as well-but not everyone looks at it that way. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – does it seem like when, as a buyer, you get a really good deal on an item, the seller somtimes seems less than enthusiastic about the tranasction?  In other words, you don’t hear squat from them unless you e-mail them first, almost as if they hope they never hear from you. I know this way of thinking doesn’t always hold water, but still, it does make one wonder at times. Mike T.

Response:

Richard, your points are well noted.  I should have been a little more specific.  I was referring specifically to not hearing from a seller for 3 days, at which time, I will contact them.  I try not to appear pushy, as I realize for many sellers this is not a primary occupation.  Regardless, Mike T.

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – If all my auctions end early in the evening, I send out auction notices that evening, unless I’m busy, then they go out first thing in the morning.  If my auctions end late in the evening, I send them out the first thing the next morning.  I’ve had a few people send me three emails between 11:00 p.m. and 5 a.m., on an auction that ended at 10:00 p.m., but most seem to understand that people do sleep. What price someone gets on my auctions makes no difference at all, if I wasn’t willing to sell something at a certain price, I would have set the minimum higher or used a reserve.  I worry about average profit margin on all my eBay sales, if you get too tied up in the profit margin on each individual sale, you’ll go batty.
