Andale fees start April 1

Question:

And that’s an oddly-appropriate date, if you ask me. Andale, in its finite wisdom, has decided it wants 2.95% of the final bid price on auctions you list using their service. The problem with giving away their services for the last several months is that folks have had a chance to decide what the service is worth to them. It’s definitely not worth $2.95 on a $100 auction to me. I wrote and pointed out that I was doing eBay long before Andale was conceived and I’ll still be doing it when…well, you get the picture. I told them I would have been willing to pay as much as 1%, but that’s it. I can’t figure out their business strategy. Seems to me it would have made more sense to start out with a nominal fee (like .5%), then implement rate increases. I wonder if anyone is going to pay 2.95%. Before you buy.

Response:

I’m in total agreement on this one.. I used Andale for several months. I really was enjoying the automation aspect of it. I sell alot of downloadable product and it worked really well for me in that respect. Initially the date was to be March 1st…then they rolled it to April 1st… I really can’t see them getting people to give up that much for fees. I think they realize it as well. I have gotten several e-mails from Andale talking about bonus payments and ad credits. Why not just leave it free or lower the percentage? Oh well..back to doing it all myself I suppose.
