nothing there is something you can do about top posting though :-p Feathers

They didn’t necessarily click BIN because they wanted the item sooner. I think that’s a fairly common fallacy. What can ya do?
Use your regular NPB protocol on non-payers and realize that these buyers aren’t going to pay any faster than any other kind. Deborah Stevenson

Not really a sale until money is exchanged. LOL. Seriously, The fact that the button contains the words "Buy", meaning to aquire through exchange of money, as well as the word "now"….. only to have the buyer wait 2 weeks to pay you through paypal is really interesting…. I notice some sellers state payment must be received within 2 hours of buyitnow, I personally think this is harsh, but how can one even enforce that?

When you post a reply above the actual question/post, making it difficult to follow the thread in a logical reading pattern, however the exact opposite of how customer email is handled in a Tier One Network Operations Center, making for quite the office joke.

Lots of people pay in a week. They know the item is theirs, so they’re not feeling any particular reason to hurry. You do have the option of filing an NPB warning 7 days after the auction’s close, so you don’t have to wait two weeks without doing anything if it doesn’t suit your nature. I notice some sellers state payment must be received within 2 hours of buyitnow, I personally think this is harsh, but how can one even enforce that?
One can’t, though one can guarantee that one’s relationship with buyers will go downhill. I think the main problem is the unstated seller expectation that BIN=fast payment. It doesn’t. It just means sold earlier. There’s not much point in being annoyed that somebody didn’t meet an expectation that they didn’t know about. Deborah Stevenson

Evidently the office fails to understand the difference between newsgroups and email, but they’re hardly alone in that so I can’t be too surprised. Deborah Stevenson

An excellent interpretation/point !! Annoyed?… nah, that is one’s assumption. I feel you make an excellent case. However I do think they should change the BIN button to LAYAWAY, as the defintion seems to fit the course of actions better.. just kidding

No, there is no lack of "understanding of difference". That is another assumption. Its called habit. When you answer literally 1300+ emails a day one way, only to be instantly poked at during one single post…it makes you wonder why buyers cant pay so instant! LOL

Of course–you generally have to put money down for layaway
. Seriously, I usually pay immediately after BINning an item, but if something prevents me (like PayPal’s being down) it can go completely out of my mind. And since I’m usually BINning to keep somebody else from getting it rather than to get it quickly, I’m not panting waiting for it, either, so I don’t remind myself. Of course, if I know in advance that I’ll be out of town or delayed for some other reason, I do mention it to the seller before bidding or BINning. Deborah Stevenson

I wish all my buyers were like you! Seriously. Ok back to work, got to answer emails backwards.

I apologize for my comment, Eric–I mistook the tone of your statement. The reason for the different speeds, of course, is demographics–you’ve got hundreds of people who can respond to your post, but only one who can pay for your item. Plus it’s a lot more rewarding to needle than to pay

Excellent! Side note, I just got a bounce from the buyer’s ISP, saying they shut him down on a temp basis! No wonder he cant pay! LOL

alt.marketing.online.ebay… What’s the deal with these buyers clicking buy it now and waiting to pay for days? What can ya do? Cash the check at the bank when it arrives. It’s "Buy Now" not "Pay Now." Bill
Such a witty response! However the original post states paypal auctions only, therefore no bank is involved that one would venture to cash said check. Thus you loose 4 sassy answer demerit points, but a good try! Since the very definition of Buy, it the exchange of goods for current etc., the original thread was meant to open up the debate of what is the accepted time frame of such an exchange, and to discuss any other existing businesses in today’s world that allow one to hold a product based on word.

Wow. I consider my self lucky now, seriously. I think Deborah cleared the air on this whole issue. Yes I state a timeframe now per advice of some sellers.

One has nothing to do with the other. You can do nothing nor should you. Just wait the normal amount of time to either get paid or complain to ebay. Never Forget http://www.livingtributes.com/livingtribute.php?memid=842

Yeah… I had a guy win a fixed price listing Monday…. didn’t hear from him until yesterday (Thursday) when he said "I’ll pay for that next week." If you at least hear from them, that’s a good sign.
