Hey buddy, Nice auctions, you want alt.marketplace.online.ebay not alt.marketing.online.ebay. I made the same mistake when I first posted here. My advice is to apologize profusely, beg for forgiveness, and never do it again. This group is *extremely* vigilant in their anti-SPAM efforts. Rusty

That’s funny that there’s an ebay marketplace newsgroup. Why go there when you can just go to ebay iteself and browse for stuff? Duh.

It is clear that they didn’t even take 10 seconds to see what is discussed in the newsgroup. Check out http://pages.ebay.com/help/usenet_policy.html

(like a kelly blue book, but for dvd’s) There’s this really great site called eBay, if you search completed auctions you can see what stuff is selling for! it would be outdated in a nanosecond if it did. Robert — The sound of gunfire, off in the distance, I’m getting used to it now Lived in a brownstone, lived in the ghetto, I’ve lived all over this town This ain’t no party, this ain’t no disco, this ain’t no fooling around

I’m just having fun, toying with the idea of a website where locals could list and trade there dvd’s free of charge and commision free. No catch! Eventually Ad links would generate some income to maintaion the site and hopefully a profit. The only problem would be having a source the members could access to value the dvds to avoid negotiations. I could advertise the site locally for $50 to a couple hundred bucks a month to keep the traders local to each other. Surely it would seem there must be some sort of list available to wholesalers and retailers I would think? I mean if I could easily list my collection, I would do it. How many times can you watch the same movie? just thinking outloud, John D.

Sounds like a great idea, but unlike cars, dvd’s have a very wide range of prices that they can go thru a movie on ebay may go for $10 used but on amazon.com it may only go for $3 for the exact same product granted some OOP dvd’s will probably get more as far as price is concerned remember, tho that people coming to your site will generally be looking for a bargain or a deal (if that is how you want to advertise your site)…so most likely (unless the dvd is extremely rare) you’ll probably keep your prices to under $15 (including shipping) otherwise they’d be better off shopping at Walmart or hitting the used bin at Blockbuster when they have their "sales". as far as how many times i can watch the same movie… ….I’d hate to say this but i know the entire script (and score) to Ghostbusters by heart…..and i can still watch it over and over again… Then again, I only buy DVD’s that have rewatchable value and rent the rest….
