It was kinda expected that HALF.COM would close sooner or later. Uhhh you did know that HALF.COM and EBAY.COM or not the same site now didnt u?????
I got the sense that eBay bought out Half.com due to the fact that it presented a decent alternative to auctions — items permanently up for sale, without bidding requirements or timeouts. eBay has now incorporated this feature into the eBay site, so phasing out Half.com makes sense from the standpoint of corporate strategy. You are impling that "ebay will be shutting down". When I accessed the link you provided it told us something different that everyone has probably known in the last 2 months about half.com. Please be careful who you say is "shutting down", say half.com NOT ebay. johnml43

Just a question for the group. Which do you find more disturbing, that this idiot posted a URL to support his claim that contained an article that didn’t have anything to do with what he was claiming, or the fact that he considered a March 2003 article summary hot news? I’m sure it was just a troll and he got what he was fishing for.
Many people have no idea. If you look on Google, all of the reply author’s posts are hanging in thin air, replying to an original post which is not there. The author posts X-No-Archive because all he (or she) wants is the flurry of activity his troll/spam originally generates here in the group. Good luck.

You heard that? And what is illegal ? If I sell you a piece of paper, and charge you $100 shipping & handling, how is that illegal? To e-mail me, remove theobvious from my e-mail address.

Totally ‘big business ethics’ – buy your competitors out and then shut them down.

whoosh… (I was playing off a previous post that claimed "Not only are you prohibited by eBay’s terms from charging the buyer for your listing, final value, and PayPal fees, calling them "shipping" is fraud. Charging them through the Internet is wire fraud.")

I find it disturbing that you consider *both* to be more disturbing! What I especially liked about the OP was his/her creative approach to the article summary. All that stuff about massive amounts of lawsuits against Ebay from buyers and sellers, which is leading to financial crisis.
Walter Mitty pales to insignificance in comparison! Show this person a queue at a bus stop and he/she’ll root out a conspiracy in no time! …Perhaps. On sad reflection, though, the OP is probably actually just a third-rate troll, rather than an imaginative genius. — John http://rarebooksinjapan.com
