Question:
You guys are great. I just posted here asking why I didn’t get a receipt for payment made 22 hours ago, and one came five minutes later. What did you do? The receipt included this paragraph: Please note that as an unverified PayPal member, each payment you make will count towards your PayPal sending limit, the maximum amount of money you can send before becoming Verified.
But it doesn’t say what my sending limit is, or what the maximum amount is. Does anyone know? I saw something like this 2 nights ago too which partially acccounted for my attitude then. I don’t like being pressured to do something with a vague unspecified pressure. If they want me to take this limit seriously, they should tell me what the limit is instead of just trying to scare me. The basic limit is $2000, according to the User Agreement. I’d suggest you have a read through on the agreement anyway–it’s good to know the policies of the place that you’re having handle your money. Deborah Stevenson

"What is the maximum amount I can send with my PayPal account? For security reasons, you will not be able to use your PayPal account to send money until you have added a credit card. Once you have added a credit card to your PayPal account, your Sending Limit will be increased to $2,000. This limit applies to all payments regardless of how the payment is funded or to whom the payment is sent. Once you send payments totaling $2,000, you will no longer be able to send payments until you lift your Sending Limit. You can view your sending limit from your account overview. Show me To lift your Sending Limit, add and confirm a bank account. Note: Some accounts are subject to a lower sending limit, determined at PayPal’s discretion. These limits are subject to change and can be lifted by confirming a bank account. Here’s How: Click on the My Account tab Click the View Limits link next to the yellow Balance box (if there is not a View Limits link, your account has no Sending Limit) Your remaining sending limit is listed under the ‘Sending Limit’ heading" Mac

Are they saying that even if my credit card willing paid the first 2000, in small bites or big bites, over a short time or a long time, and I owe no one any moeny, they still won’t let me spend more than those 2000 dollars. That’s what it says. If they only mean I can’t have more than 2000 dollars owed on a credit card, NOT counting the amounts that have been paid off already, I’ve only spent 2000 dollars 5 fimes in my life, my house and my last 4 cars. Not a problem. Nope, it also says " Your Sending Limit is the maximum amount of money you can send through PayPal before completing the verification process. We ask users to become Verified to increase security for everyone." I don’t see how they are more at risk after 2000 than before. I don’t see how it increases security for everyone; maybe the people I buy from and paypal itself but only them. You can view your sending limit from your account overview. Like an idiot, I looked for my ebay account instead, and strangely, I don’t have one, even though I’ve bought things. But my paypal account said $1971. OK. Thanks a lot!!!!! I did read it a year or two ago.

That is correct. You cannot spend more than $2K through PayPal without registering a bank account. They don’t care how much you owe, or what your credit card limits are. Mac

Thanks. It will still be years before I get to this point. Maybe I’ll trust them by then, or maybe I’ll be paying more attention to my bank statements. Very interesting system. Thanks. Mac
