Off she went to four of our local Big Lots stores, where she rounded up 120 of the item, which, by mid-October, was marked down to half price. Despite the late start, thanks to a few marketing tricks (she figured out an application for the item that would appeal to school teachers), she just about sold out, at $6.95 each. It helped that her fellow teachers purchased multiples, including three sales of 12 to 14 items each.. Big Lots says it gets this item in every year, as the importer dumps its excess as soon as it receives all its orders from the non-close-out retailers. Wife plans to get an earlier start next year, possibly packaging the item with an instruction sheet for class activities. The next time somebody asks me what they should sell on eBay, I’m going to tell them, "your brainpower."
I found 25 copies of the same 2003 baseball card on ebay, in a baseball card category, and won the lot for under $5.00. I’ve sold over a half-dozen: none of my individual auctions of the same card have closed *under* $5.
I don’t list them in a card category.
