Laid off: Selling my guitars. Any offer. $0 reserve

Question:

Selling guitars I never use, b/c nothing compares to my Les Paul custom, quite frankly.  (Aint never selling that) My loss is your gain. http://cgi6.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewListedItems&userid=ante… include=0&since=-1&sort=2&rows=25

Response:

Sorry to hear about the lay off. Best of luck with your auctions. And hold on to that LP! Parker

<wack! Shipping is kinda high. I just won a guitar off ebay, and it was 19 bucks shipping for 2 day shipping and insurance.

Response:

Yeah, I don’t think I’d buy a guitar off ebay, just because I can’t feel it first. Maybe if they were local. And shipping for nice items will be up there.

If you want to increase the bidding, do yourself a favor and update the descriptions.  If you also offer a return policy, it should increase bids (buyer would still be out the shipping costs both ways, but at least he’d be able to approve the guitar or return it). – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Selling guitars I never use, b/c nothing compares to my Les Paul custom, quite frankly.  (Aint never selling that) My loss is your gain. http://cgi6.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewListedItems&userid=ante… include=0&since=-1&sort=2&rows=25

A Strat copy (no mention of brand) missing 5 tuning knobs with $40 shipping…  I’m sure one could buy that thing new for like $149.   If you want to increase the bidding, do yourself a favor and update the descriptions.  If you also offer a return policy, it should increase bids (buyer would still be out the shipping costs both ways, but at least he’d be able to approve the guitar or return it).

You should update the descriptions with as much detail as possible. You should say what brand of guitar they are, condition, case, gig bag or nothing, and give a general idea of how they sound and what sort of buyer might find them interesting. I’m not sure I’d buy a guitar unless it was a killer deal or unless I could return it if not satisfied.  I have bought effects, amps, preamps, Mullard tubes…  and never been ripped off.  ALWAYS got good prices.  You have to know when to quit bidding.  I probably bid on ten times more items than I get.  But when I get it, I get a good deal. Only bad experience was in buying a set of speakers for my wife’s car.  "Perfect condition," RIGHT!  One speaker had a rubbing voice coil.  Seller responded by saying sound quality is subjective and it sounded good enough to her.  I should have left negative feedback, but she made it clear that a negative for her meant a negative for me.  Cost me another $60 to order a woofer from Polk, but still came out ahead on the price.

As long as you don’t buy expensive stuff on ebay you’re usually very safe using ebay.   For expensive stuff make sure they use paypal or some system like that.  PayPal goes after con artists and scams very effectively.
