Our friend HammerTap's response to his 'friends'

Question:

It’s no different than some joker coming in and talking about beanie babies. And, help me out here, don’t you make your living from those jokers? We all have to adhere to the rules of the newgroup, ebay, and, yes, I’m sure YOU have a standard way you communicate and deal with you user base and expect it to be adhered to. This tactic is bullshit and you know it. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ——Original Message—– To: Walter Scheipe Cc: Do a search on groups.google.com for "HammerTap", and you’ll see that I’ve posted hundreds of messages to a.m.o.e.  People know who I am in there.  A lot of them use my software.  It’s a lot different than some joker coming in and telling us about his beanie babies. —–Original Message—– Sent: Thursday, March 28, 2002 7:44 PM To: HammerTap No offense meant, but why is this not spam or a troll? This guy is soliciting business. If this is ok, I’d love to post MY auctions for this group … —– Original Message —– Newsgroups: alt.marketing.online.ebay Sent: Thursday, March 28, 2002 10:33 PM A lot of people have been asking for one, and we finally got around to starting it: Earn 20% on any HammerTap sale you refer to us. http://hammertap.com/LinkToUs.html Earn an additional 5% on any sales that person generates if they sign up as an affiliate. — HammerTap Software for online auction users. http://www.hammertap.com

Actually, Walter, those are *your* words at the top of this post.  You’re the hothead who flew off the handle and started tossing out profanities. Please, chill.

Well, V Bedow, why not use your real name? You seem to like to hide behind ‘HammerTap’. Afraid we’ll see the farce of these ‘toy’ software programs you sell? All your components seem to have one thing in common – they have no real, useful, money-making purpose. And, remember, you started this … you feel you are ’special’, and can post your commercial spam-trolls, while us ‘lure-sellers’ should shut-up and allow it – just for you …

Uh-oh! Do I see the next "mayor of the group" coming on the scene?

Because will is apparently new to Usenet and has not grasped the breach of manners and convention that such an act constitutes. Trust me, will, it doesn’t help your cause. Deborah Stevenson

Looks like a bunch of homemade programs that oughta be free. But an "affiliate" program to distribute some guys sharware?  Gee, maybe I’ll start one too! I’ll pay 25% of the selling price to anybody that does all the work of selling and shipping my junk.I suppose next we will see warnings about illegal copys of this wonderful software as he challenges Microsoft. Maybe we should post the cracks. But since his potential customers are "jokers" they probably wouldnt know what to do with them. Thanks for creating programs even dummys like us can use. Maybe if we work hard someday we too can post hundreds of messages and be like you. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Do a search on groups.google.com for "HammerTap", and you’ll see that I’ve posted hundreds of messages to a.m.o.e. I don’t know, why is it?

Because you posted it.  I am surprised that a thick-fingered newsgroup constable like you is not aware of how fundamentally anathema that it is to all established newsgroup etiquette. — HammerTap Software for online auction users. http://www.hammertap.com
