Did I miss something?

Question:

…Do you think it hurts sales by not accepting CC payments via PayPal?…

I think it hurts by not accepting CC by some method. PayPal or otherwise. I won’t buy unless it’s with a CC. … I have a premier PP acct. The fees really cut into the price of items…

Check your profit margin. Adjust accordingly. Accepting CC’s, and paying the costs related to that is just part of doing business. Lumpy — Lumpy in Your Living Room! www.digitalcartography.com/house_concert.htm

This is kinda off the topic….. Since PayPal CC payments were brought up, I wanted to get opinions. Do you think it hurts sales by not accepting CC payments via PayPal? I sell on eBay sporatically. I have a premier PP acct. The fees really cut into the price of items. I have thought about going back to a basic acct but I like the idea of being able to take credit cards. Any thoughts?

I only purchase using a CC, I won’t even consider the auctions that don’t accept them.  But, I am only one.

there really is no way of knowing since paypal doesn’t reveal the payment source. robert "I’ve been long, a long way from here Put on a poncho, played for mosquitos, And drank til I was thirsty again We went searching through thrift store jungles Found Geronimo’s rifle, Marilyn’s shampoo And Benny Goodman’s corset and pen"

With over 80% of my auctions paid via PP, I shutter to think how many fewer bids I’d get (i.e. lower selling prices), if I restricted such a large market from bidding on my auctions. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text –

I’m more concerned with whether or not the seller takes PayPal than whther they accept CC payments. I pay using the instant transfer option even if the seller doesn’t ask for payments that way. My CC is actually Vias checkcard so the money comes out of my bank account either way I pay. – Email replies should be sent to the address found here: http://members.aol.com/jonpurkey/email.gif

Yeah, me too. A lot of times I pass on an auction if they don’t accept PayPal. Thanks to everyone for all the feedback to my question. I’m going to keep accepting CC’s on PayPal!

I don’t accept PP credit card payments either.  If I left it off an auction accidentally I would definately apologize to the buyer and give him other options of payment.  The buyer would then have the choice of completing the transaction.  But I would not sign up for a premium PP account because of my mistake to allow the buyer to pay with a credit card.  I am sure the seller did not intentionally leave off his statement that he doesn’t accept credit cards – and I do believe that the Pay Pal credit card logo is automatically inserted if you indicate you accept Pay Pal – even if you only have a personal account.  DonnaB

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4313&item=3043… No, in fact that listing clearly displays the credit card .gifs in the accepted Paypal forms. I can see how that can get you irrat8ed. jim menning

All I saw was "PayPal only" under Seller’s payment instruction.  Nothing about crtedit card or anything. You could paypal yourself payment from CC and then transfer it tothe seller.  Or you could be a jerk, point out the seller didn’t specify no CC payment and quote an eBay rule about changing term of agreement after the auction ended. Your choice.  Personally it sopunds like the seller forgot to mention no CC payment. — All viruses and spams are automatically removed by my ISP before reaching my inbox.

Put your glasses on, it clearly shows multiple CCs with method of payment accepted. Who’s being a jerk, the seller shows accepting CC’s.  This the way you run your auctions? Your choice.  Personally it sopunds like the seller forgot to mention no CC payment.

Wrong, seller shows accepting CCs.  Good Grief, what dont you get?

I don’t think you can. PayPay won’t(?) allow you to pay yourself. Lumpy — Lumpy in Your Living Room! www.digitalcartography.com/house_concert.htm

which is why you shouldn’t click the box if you have a personal account. robert "I’ve been long, a long way from here Put on a poncho, played for mosquitos, And drank til I was thirsty again We went searching through thrift store jungles Found Geronimo’s rifle, Marilyn’s shampoo And Benny Goodman’s corset and pen"

He wouldn’t be a jerk for doing that.  The auction says paypal and has the logos of all the credit cards.  Many people (myself included) prefer to use a cc when paying for items with paypal.  If it says in the auction that they won’t take a cc via paypal, then I might choose not to bid.   The seller may have gotten the sale thanks to the paypal logo with the ccs, and now he is pulling a bait and switch.  If the seller doesn’t want to pay the paypal fees, he should accept other forms of payment. Your choice.  Personally it sopunds like the seller forgot to mention no CC payment.

The seller isn’t a newbie, and his other auction that week also showed paypal with all the credit cards.  So, you think he made the "mistake" twice?
