Question:
My fiance and I are considering the idea of a themed wedding … or at least of incorporating something different or unusual into the ceremony. We’ve looked at the idea of a Renassance- or Victorian-costumed wedding, of hiring a horse and carriage, of dove or butterfly releases as symbols of our love, but nothing seems quite right. Anyone have any ideas or experiences with weddings that are both novel (or have novel elements) and yet are still serious and elegant? Thanks! Before you buy.
Response:
Great site. My cousin is getting married in the woods, at dusk and all decked out in gothic attire. Your site was really interesting and full of information. Anyone have any ideas or experiences with weddings that are both novel (or have novel elements) and yet are still serious and elegant? My fiance & I our planning a gothic victorian wedding (not strictly historical, but very dark & elegant). Of course, the reason why this works for us is that ‘gothic victorian’ is pretty much our everyday style (more gothic than victorian on an everyday basis, but we are extremely fond of the period). Whatever you do should somehow reflect your own intrinsic style as a couple. Think about your shared interests & hobbies. What movies or books make you both feel dreamy & special? What’s the most romantic place you’ve ever gone together? Brainstorm about your wedding & romance fantasies, & see what patterns develop. For example, if your most cherished romantic memory is of a beachside picnic, you might look for a wedding or reception site w/an ocean view or right on the beach. If "Breakfast at Tiffany’s" rocks your world, a glamorous cocktail party might be your perfect reception. And if you met working a renfaire, then a renaissance themed wedding could be ideal (oddly enough, my finace & I did meet working renfaire, but that was over 7 yrs. ago & our style has evolved from ren to victorian
