Question:
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – The course is 35 dollars Canadian and it’s for 7 hours I believe. Is this seminar worth it? Probably not even worth it in Canadian dollars
If the course is run by eBay, my guess is it will contain mostly routine stuff that’s already in their Help pages, and almost no school-of-hard-knocks reality, much less technical details on optimal image pixel dimensions. Plus, as others have pointed out, they will sell their goofy frills. If you aren’t already an eBay BUYER, become one. You need to build experience, an FB rating, and gain that invaluable customer perspective. Also lurk here. Figure out who to listen to, who to ignore, and who to loan fondue pots to. I could be mistaken about the course, but if you can’t find someone to debrief who has actually taken it, then there’s a message there. Note that so far no sellers who have taken the course have herein endorsed it.
Have a look at the agenda. IMHO, it’s not worth anything like $30 US even if you had nothing else to do that afternoon. Doesn’t even include any free food.
It’s very basic. The only thing that might be marginally useful would be a certain amount of networking. But these are not likely to be powerseller types going to such a course. EBay are having a 7 hour seminar/course in a city near me in the next couple of weeks. The course is 35 dollars Canadian and it’s for 7 hours I believe. Is this seminar worth it? I thought about purchasing a ticket for the intermediate course? Is the money lost by taking a day off work worth it? Anyone here taken the course?
You might consider a book on ebaying. Here is a link http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/103-1965003-0932646 Certainly saves the day off. Perhaps others will comment on the usefulness on any particular book(s) LB

Depends on what you already know. I thought about purchasing a ticket for the intermediate course?
Probably best. Is the money lost by taking a day off work worth it? Anyone here taken the course?
I’ve taken ebaYU, which is offered directly by ebaY. Effectiveness of any education has a lot to do with your current knowledge. — Outgoing mail is certified bollocks

I think you will get better advice here. It is hard for me to comment, as I have not attended on, but I suspect that eBay’s advice will encourage you to purchases services you do not need – like picture hosting, formatted templates and things like that. A

Never forget to mention eBay’s criminally and insanely low fees, which are as American as baseball and apple pie. Rita

Each to their own, and you will get a lot of "their own" here but I cannot see it being worth it. If the course is run by eBay they pimp so much stuff that costs you extra in fees, with no return, that I would not do it. We started out by looking at a lot of listings and then getting our feet wet with a few items. Seems to have worked. Don will be along shortly to direct you to his tutorials at www.tinaja.com. The 35 bucks for the course is peanuts. That is most certainly worth it. The money I lose by taking a day off of work ( I earn a commission based paycheque) or by using a vacation day is not cheap. Therefore my question stands.. Is the 7 hour intermediate selling course EBay run worth my time and money? I have no intentions of becoming a power seller on EBay but wouldn’t mind dabbling in a few sales here and there…..
