Question:
hi all well i finally did and resigned. as from 16 feb i will be a housewife. i’m really hoping this is going to help to reduce my stress levels and hopefully my anxiety will disappear as it did 2 years ago. i hope it will be okay at home and that i won’t get any attacks whilst with the two kids. i am worrying about money but will try and stick to our budget and be good – guess my hubby is going to be in a constant state of anxiety over balancing the budget. just wanted to share my news. kim

Hi Liz Maybe you can send me some tips – seems like you are doing well! I cut my hubby’s hair already but wouldn’t dare cut mine
Anyways its been falling out from stress lately! My husband is an electronic engineer and does some travelling. I just feel I am missing out being at work and the kids being at home. Also there’s a lot of hidden expenses when one works, ie work clothes, travelling costs etc. I will let you know how it goes! Kim

We save money by cutting our own hair, doing our own repairs, growing our own food, and so on. It takes a lot of time learn all these skills, but both of us find it much more fun than me working outside the home and both of us coming home to an empty house every night. — Take care, Liz The sky is the daily bread of the eyes. …..Ralph Waldo Emerson

LOL! Can you tell I am cheap?
Not cheap, Liz. THRIFTY! I was brought up that way, too. My mom was queen of the second-hand shops and rummage sales, not to mention the coupon-clippers and Green-Stamp-savers. :-) So ingrained was this trait in me, I actually purchased my (beautiful, untraditional) wedding gown and matching jacket in a consignment store for $45!!! (This was in 1975) That store still exists, and I love going in and saying, "Hi, I’m the one who bought my wedding gown here; I’ve been married for 27 years now!") I agree re: PayPal accounts, eBaying, etc. I have purchased beautiful clothes for my kids, espec. my daughter, on eBay. Well, some for myself, too.
And I have sold a ton of stuff there. When things settle down w/ my dad, I hope to have energy again to list a ton of old books and periodicals I cleaned out of my parents’ house last year. It’s really a lot of fun. I buy books, CDs, and videotapes on Half.com. The only way to go, AFAIC. I love those grocery-store rotisserie chickens. Our Stop & Shop has them sometimes for $3.99 each, and they make a great quick dinner for us along with potatoes "baked" in the microwave and a salad. Never thought of buying an extra one for chicken salad the next day; what a great idea. The other things that sometimes are great grocery-store bargains are fruits and veggies in the mark-down rack. You have to be careful to look it over, but if it’s something you’re going to use right away, especially ripe fruit, you can get some amazing deals. And veggies like zucchini that have gone a little limp… if you’re going to make ratatouille or something similar where the veggies are cooked limp anyway, you might as well buy them cheap. A couple of "frugal Fannies," that’s what we are! xxoo Anne
