Got scammed with a stolen credit card, asking for advice….

Question:

Hey guys I’m a seller, and I’ve just learned that an item I mailed out 2 days ago was paid for with a stolen credit card and paypal has reversed the charges.  I live in Japan and I sent the package to a post office box in Illinois. I sent the information to Paypal as they requested, but it was to an unconfirmed address so I’m assuming that not much is going to happen with them. I’ve placed a call to the post office in Illinois and they are going to investigate and possibly hold the package for me when it arrives which should be anyday now. I’d like to report him to eBay, so, as usual, I’m coming her to get info from you guys before I do that.  Any tips or tricks to doing that? Also, I’ll add in a brief sentence to grovel to all of those people who will write a sharp message about how completly stupid I am for sending out a package to an unconfirmed address and I’ll admire your resolve in only mailing out to confirmeds. Laters, Eric

Stolen credit cards are a given with international sales. — Many thanks, Don Lancaster Synergetics   3860 West First Street  Box 809  Thatcher, AZ 85552 Please visit my GURU’s LAIR web site at http://www.tinaja.com

On international sales to the US?? I guess I’ll have to stop all my domestic sales. The link the OP is looking for is: http://pages.ebay.com/help/contact_inline/report_problem.html Then click on problems with other eBay members, fraud concerns for sellers, the buyer paid with fake/stolen funds.  That should get you to a page that has a link to contact support.

What’s the eBay ID of the winning bidder?

Response:

Hey there I’ve reported him to eBay via the "Contact Ebay" sheet which lists the problem as a cancelled payment via credit card after the item has been mailed out.  I really had no idea that there was next to no protection for sellers.  If you do a search under "fraud" on eBay, about 90% of the information is for Buyers.  Ebay states that they don’t offer any kind of protection to sellers. International credit card payments are a way of life for me, and after about 500 of them this is the first time that I’ve ever had one reversed.  I can’t say I’d be happy about trading my profit to eliminate this loss.  I might just inflate the shipping charge by $1 to create a mini self-insurance fund for fraud. Is it kosher to post the guys name on this board when there is an ongoing investigation?  I thought that there were rules agains that.  He’s suddenly listed cheap jewelry for sale, all of it with Buy It Now, so the account is probably hacked anyway.  I’ve notified eBay and there’s not much else I can do about it…. I’m in Korea, but I can get along fine with money orders. I’m sure using and accepting credit cards would be much easier, but I’m not going to screw with what works for me. You can list his ebay ID (or the item number of the auction, and we can figure out the rest for ourselves), but nothing of his personal information (name, address, email address). Curtis. — Who in the blue hell are you two French popcorn farts anyway?
