Question:
Hey all… Got a question for the experts….. I bought a Craftsman Band saw off Ebay ( I know, I know!!) for 50.00. It looks brand new (no dust or anything) but its missing the mounting for the table. No problem, right! Wrong! The guy that sold it to me took ALL (repeat, ALL) the labels off the saw. Which now makes it impossible to order parts for. (No saw model number, no parts). I have an idea which saw it is but no at Sears (retail or parts) can figure it out! I looks like the single speed 10" ,1/3 hp saw on page 136 of the craftsman 1998-1999 tool catalog #24460. The guy at the part and the one at retail said that it would start with 113.—— . I cant give you alot of help, but if you can give me any ideas let me know! I’m baffled! Thanks! Mike

Heres a hint; the table angle indicator is a little metal tab almost directly under the blade. The part we had ordered had this indicator further up on the "curve" (?). Thanks for your help! Was it by chance a little warm to the touch when you received it? Keith Bohn

<<Bet you can warm your hands within a foot of the thing. I don’t really know, but he does sell alot of Craftsman tools at Ebay. I really should think things through but at $50 I thought it would be a good deal!? Who was to know every label would be gone. If anyone has any questions in regards to figuring out the model let me know. Thanks to James, I try that model #. Any other guesses? Mike
Response:
Could be he’s bought a lot of "returns", which would explain why they’re broken, and why the labels are removed. Sort of like tearing the cover off of old paperbacks. Lack of serial numbers would bother me. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – <<Bet you can warm your hands within a foot of the thing. Buying a Craftsman product was your first mistake. Getting parts is a major problem, but for $50.00.., I might have done it myself, but I wouldn’t have kept it. I don’t know what it’s worth but for a few dollars.., quite a few.., a machinist can probably fabricate what you need. My waterlogged brain can’t remember if I responded to your note yet. Actually my ISP was up and down yesterday, and I can’t recall if my response to you was one of the ones that snuck out during a "up" window. Anyway, perhaps if you provided a bit more of a physical description of the bandsaw, we could help you out. Is it a 2 wheel or 3 wheel unit? Floor model, or benchtop? Any markings on the motor re: hp, etc? I have a 2 wheeled 10 in that Sear’s called a "benchtop" but I think was only so they could keep the price of the saw down and charge you extra for the leg unit. The saw is bigger than anything *I* would put on a bench. So, give us some particulars and maybe we can help you out. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hey all… Got a question for the experts….. Mike Your model number starts with a three digit manufactors number, like 113. .
That Identifies the manufactor and the next five or six digits after the decimal place are the Sears stock number, like 24460. Go back to service or call 1-800-4my home and ask them to look up parts for 113.24460. If this still does not work ask a sales associate on the sales floor for the number of a current model if it is similar to yours. I had one just like this my model number was 113.244500 it was a single speed three wheel bench top band saw. 1/3hp. I still have the owners manual for mine if it will help? Let me
