Looked at the auction numbers recently?

Angie Up to 6.4 million auctions now, which appears to be a new record for the number of listings, 2 hundred thousand more auctions than at the height of the Christmas buying season last year.  While I’m glad I’m not listing tonight, I bet there will be some bargains to be found for buyers next Thursday.      Nope,I make custom wrestling products, very little competition. And some people try,but I’m a trained artist, some people try to put paint on a figure and make a quick buck,I can afford to let my auctions go at my starting prices, and my auctions never end at the start price.

I took advantage of free listing day to list all of the items I was preparing for my ebay store.  I just put them in the regular auction listings.  Already made a couple of sales. I wasn’t planning on listing any auction listings this week or next anyway, but if it’s free and I’ve got the stuff sitting there ready to go, why not? Peter

It will be very interesting to see what happens in a week; will there be a rash of bitching ’cause these holliday auctions were all lo-bid closes or will ebays little trick actually put a little life back in the thing. Personally, I dont think a free listing will ever make up for the lack of bidders over a holliday. Anyway, I’m more interested in additional bidders, not just more stuff competeing with my auctions.

Response:

Their summary page now shows over 7.6 million auctions. I’ll definitely be shopping next Thursday. Bill Shaw toppsoft

‘Tis looking grim, Richard! I’m currently doing some general searches on stuff that I last checked on in the wee hours, yesterday. Most items are now showing several pages of new stuff listed. "Shotglass" has 627 items listed, with almost 200 of these put up yesterday. Searching "Shot glass" by "Newly Listed First" (total listings, 3682) , I see that by the bottom of page 6 (of 74) I have only viewed the listings placed during the last four hours of the promotion. That’s 300 new listings, with 20 more hours to check on. Nah! Looks like I might as well put everything up for a few days and find something else to do. DId I mention that not one of the pages I looked at had any bids showing? alanama — Alana "Success is going from one failure to the next without a loss of enthusiasm." —Winston Churchill

If it’s available,I recommend Cable modem,I did 56 auctions, some of the same items I listed within a few seconds of each other. No slowdown for me.

Response:

I posted a bunch of stuff that doesn’t get a lot of bids. If it sells for the minimum, I’m happy. Plus, I got off my butt and finished writing listings for some merchandise I couldn’t seem to find time for until now. Bill Shaw toppsoft

It was taking 30 minutes per auction to get through the listing page last night. I finally dumped them all into Mister Lister and kept resubmitting until they arrived. EBay was really slammed last night. The load did seem to slack off about 11pm ET when I was able to relist three auctions fairly normally. Bill Shaw toppsoft
