Question:
Hello, That’s my question in a nutshell. If you don’t think so, which credit card payment service do you use? Thanks, Jim
Response:
I use PayPal and BillPoint both.

I use Nochex (not sure if you are UK or US, it is more of a UK thing) — Niel Humphreys

I use both Billpoint and Paypal. Both have their pros and cons which tend to average out overall. I just offer both and let the bidders choose which one they want to use (or check/money order if they desire).

Hello Jim- I’m a newbie, and I’m trying *not* to use Billpoint or PayPal for a while to see how it goes. I am still offering the options of checks and money orders. For credit cards, I’m trying eCount. So far, it’s working wonderfully. eCount doesn’t accept credit card payments for *you*. Instead, if the person doesn’t have any money in their eCount, they can fund their eCount with money from their own credit card – and for that, they pay a $2 fee. But there are no fees for transferring money to and from your eCount to another person’s eCount. eCount will send you a debit MasterCard so you can have access to your money out in the real world easily. I sell mostly little stuff. The eBay fees are bad enough on small sales, and I just don’t want to pay more in credit card fees on top of it all. It’s just another option. Boonie Girl

Well I’m in the UK and I use NOCHEX for my UK transactions (which requires a debit card, can’t use a credit card) For the rest of the world I prefer PAYPAL which is cheaper than bidpay, with bidpay you have to fork out $5 for each transaction. Paypal you pay a small fee, a few cents. Paypal is easy to use, bidpay is a pain in the butt.
Response:
BillPoint and BidPay are different. Do you use BillPoint in the UK? Just curious. Rob
Response:
In Sweden, BidPay is the best way for selling cheaper things on Ebay. It costs nothing to cash in a Western Union money order in certain post offices. PayPal send a check which costs 100 SEK (about $10) to cash in and cannot transfer to any bank account and even if they could, the bank would still charge about 60 SEK ($6) for the service. /Niclas – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Well I’m in the UK and I use NOCHEX for my UK transactions (which requires a debit card, can’t use a credit card) For the rest of the world I prefer PAYPAL which is cheaper than bidpay, with bidpay you have to fork out $5 for each transaction. I take both paypal and billpoint, about equal numbers pay with each (I’m a small time seller). I like paypal because I have the paypal debit MasterCard, and because I use their web accept on my small business’ web page to take credit card payments on the rare occasion that a customer wants to use a credit card. (Web accept is limited to $1000 for unverified people, which is still a higher limit than non-web-accept. Because we work on a project basis I just find out at the start of the project if the customer intends to use a credit card, so they can start the verification process then and be verified by the end of the project if they are going to go over $1000.)

Beware of Billpoint. I received a chargeback since a bidder used a stolen credit card. Billpoint did nothing to check to see whether or not the name on the credit card matched the name of the bidder. Paypal offers sellers protection from this sort of buyer fraud with confirmed addresses. Tim 9-23
