Question:
On the 19th, Ebay had a free listing offer for buy it now. How often do they have these kind of offers?

How often do they : have these kind of offers? : : very far and few between, and when sales have been slack, and if a particular feature has not been used that much. They use free listing days to try and promote something of theirs that obviously does not get used as much as they would like (in this case fixed price buy it now) as they hope sellers will continue to use it, as it brings in more revenue from using this feature, as they do charge additional use, if you have a normal auction with the buy it now feature additional 5p per listing (UK). They do others like penny gallery week etc. Kaz

That was on ebaYUK. Canada and OZ have them several times a year, and I think the US site had two of them in the last quarter last year. FFP (free fixed price) day is great if you have stuff that didn’t sell before, or you otherwise know what you want to sell for, and can put a set price on it. The biggie is the FLD (free listing day). You’re lucky to see these once a year, and there are people with automated programs who will pound in 50-100,000 listings on such a day. Either FLD or FFD are usually announced mere hours before they happen, on the general announcements page for a site. They also show up on SAPro or any good interface program, and of course, someone always mentions them here. They’re usually caught by auctionbytes and auctionguild/TAG, but usually only when they’re halfway over. EbAy will send out emails to some sellers, but never all, so that’s the last thing to depend on. Best bet is to check the announcement board daily, very late in the day, for any sites you would consider listing on. Or tune in to radio AMOE and rip the knob off. — You want sympathy? It’s in the dictionary. Between suicide and syphilis.

The "real" free listing days are pretty rare, but offers such as this (one type of listing or one feature for free, on one country’s eBay site) probably come along once a month or so (just off the top of my head — haven’t really counted).
