what to do when bidder changes mind?

Question:

Ake her to refund all costs back to you, the relist. That will be the best option for both parties!!! Steve – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I got an email this morning from the winner of an auction that ended on the 11th. This is what it says: "due to ilness kevin will not be able to use this for some time if this is going to cause any conflict i can purchase item and resale it…. let me know what im to do….thank you diane" Ok, can someone tell me how I should proceed.  This buyer has 121 positives, 0 negatives.  Should I encourage her to finish the deal or just file a NPB? Thanks!!!

Sorry to hear about Kevin’s illness.  Unfortunately, I depend on the sales I make on ebaY to pay my bills, so I’m sure you understand why I prefer that you complete the transaction.  If you wish to pay for it and make a deal with the underbidder, I will be happy to ship to them if you specify. — If the Internet was a real super-highway it would be traveled by slow moving garbage trucks with big flashing corporate logos on them, little kids riding tricycles carrying supersoakers filled with battery acid, and HUGE yellow schoolbuses with America Online painted on them, filled with kids throwing shit out of the windows.

That is just about what I said to them, except there was no under bidder, he used buy it now.  I haven’t heard back from them so I will wait the 7 days and file NPB.  I have the feeling this will end up getting me a negative.

since she did offer to purchase it i would take her word and let her off the hook.  give her a amount that equals your fees and see if she pays it, otherwise just move on. robert "I must not fear.  Fear is the mind-killer.  Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.  I will face my fear.  I will permit it to pass over me and through me.  And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.  Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.  Only I will remain."

What do you want to do? This buyer has 121 positives, 0 negatives.

So it sounds like it’s not a cheat. Should I encourage her to finish the deal or just file a NPB? Don’t forget there’s the "mutual agreement" NPB that doesn’t leave a mark on the buyer’s record. Deborah Stevenson
